D.A.R.E. Officers & Principals:

Do you know a teacher that goes just a little bit beyond what is expected in the classroom?

Someone who is supportive of the DARE concept by the things they do during school hours and at after school activities?

A teacher that has been involved with DARE for at least 2 semesters?

Someone that deserves to be recognized?

Nominate your choice for D.A.R.E. EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR!

Is there an outstanding D.A.R.E. Officer in your Department or School System?

Reward them with a nomination for the D.A.R.E. Ohio Larry R. Cox – “D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year” Award!

Nominations may be submitted by a Chief/Sheriff, Supervisor, another D.A.R.E. Officer, or any School Official associated with the D.A.R.E. program in their community.

The Officer nominated must meet the following requirements:

Have a minimum of two semesters teaching the D.A.R.E. Curriculum, be currently teaching D.A.R.E., and have a strong commitment to other activities involving D.A.R.E. and the community.

Please complete the form with detailed information as to why you feel this DARE Officer should be chosen as Ohio’s “D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year”.

Is there an outstanding Law Enforcement Executive in your Department?

Reward them with a nomination for the D.A.R.E. Ohio “The Sheriff James Karnes Law Enforcement Executive” Award!

Requirements:  Nominations must be submitted by an Active DARE Officer. Nominations can also be made by a City Council member, a member of the County Commissioners, or a member of the local School Board, with the support of the DARE Officer. Nominations will not be accepted from an immedate family member of the Executive or Supervisor. The nominee must be a leader and demonstrate high moral standards for themselves and others.  The nominee must have shown tremendous dedication and support of DARE by going above and beyond what is normally expected in the position. The nominee must stand out in his/her commitment to DARE. The nominee’s department must currently provide the DARE Program in their community.

NOTE:  Written documentation should not exceed two pages. (This would include any photos submitted. Photos should be clearly marked with the return address if returning them is requested.)

2024 SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Criteria:
The DARE Ohio Scholarship award is to be used toward expenses of the College or Technical School of the selected student’s choice. The decision of the Scholarship Selection Committee is final and is based on the following requirements:

  1. Current High School Senior
  2. Son/Step-son, Daughter/Step-daughter, or legal dependent of an Active DARE Officer
  3. Applicant must have graduated from a DARE class
  4. Completed Application submitted before pre-designated date
  5. Completed Essay (No more than 200 words) submitted with application form

Scholarship Essay Topic:

What role do you think Social Media plays in drug usage? Is there some way to ameliorate the impact of Social Media platforms?

Scholarship Entry Steps:

  1. Complete application
  2. Complete Essay and attach to application form
  3. Mailed (postmarked) no later than April 1, 2024
